On Monday, the Groupama-FDJ cycling team unveiled its long-awaited line-up for the 2024 Tour de France. Around David Gaudu, fourth in the 2022 edition, an entire team will be led by a clear objective: to win. "Our strategy is different from our traditional operating model, with an entire team at the service of a leader, explains Sports Director Benoît Vaugrenard. We're evolving and this year we're giving the riders a lot of freedom. David Gaudu is the central element of our team, but the seven other riders are ready to go for stage wins." This group includes the other key members of the roster, Valentin Madouas and Stefan Küng, as well as the two young guns Romain Grégoire and Lenny Martinez, accompanied by the experienced Quentin Pacher, Clément Russo and Kevin Geniets. All will be driven by the same goal: to raise their arms.

"WE WANT TO MOVE OUR LINES"

A few hours after the team arrived in Firenze, Marc Madiot declared at a press conference on Thursday: "We're approaching this Tour de France with no apprehension, but with envy, desire and appetite." David Gaudu confirmed: "What we want is to see the team win again on the Tour. That's what the team is all about. We want to be in the breakaways, to be visible, to be players." Present at the start of their very first Tour de France, Lenny Martinez and Romain Grégoire are themselves going to be a driving force in this winning spirit. "Do I have enough experience? I have enough... insouciance!" Romain Grégoire told the journalists.
"We're going to go for more aggressive, less conservative tactics, agreed Marc Madiot. We have what it takes to be seen and to be part of the race. We want to move our lines."
AN UNPRECEDENTED GRAND DÉPART FROM ITALY

On Saturday, in Firenze, the Tour de France will start from Italy for the very first time. After that, a difficult route will take the riders to the northern half of France, until the highlight of the first week on Sunday 7: the stage to Troyes with its white roads. After the descent to the Pyrenees, the final part of the race will be ultra-mountainous, with stages at Pla d'Adet, Plateau de Beille, Isola 2000 and Col de la Couillole, leading the peloton to Nice for the verdict of the race. For the first time in almost forty years, a time trial will be contested on the last day, reinforcing the exceptional nature of this final Sunday, which has been relocated from Paris because of the Olympic Games.

Since 2020, Groupama has been running the #MusetteGroupama operation, enabling Groupama farmer members to become fruit and vegetable suppliers to the Groupama-FDJ cycling team for a few races.

For the team chef, buying directly from local producers in a short circuit is a guarantee of freshness and quality when preparing meals for the riders. Groupama considers this approach to be a way of making the riders' performance a collective success, thanks to the association of its farmer members!

To mark the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2024, the team's chef reveals one of his recipes, prepared in collaboration with the team's nutritionist!
