The race line-up
Tour de France
The Tour de France starts in Bilbao for a crazy first week !
For the second time in history after 1992, the Tour de France will set off from the Spanish Basque Country, more specifically from Bilbao for three Pyrenean stages in this region with a strong cycling culture. These first three stages will be tricky and dangerous for riders competing for the General Classification where they will have to be very attentive and not waste time in the famous Jaizkibel.
In addition to these three days in the Spanish Basque Country, the festivities in the first week will not stop there since from the 5th stage, the mountain will be in order with a finish in Laruns via the Col de Soudet halfway through. The next day, the famous Col d’Aspin – Tourmalet sequence will be present before a first summit finish in Cauterets-Cambasque.
The same team as 2022 around David Gaudu, the last dance for Thibaut Pinot !
After a fourth place in 2022 and a second place in Paris-Nice this year, David Gaudu is back on the Tour de France with podium ambitions! Around him, a group he knows well since a very large part of the 2022 group will be taking on the Basque roads on July 1st. A tailored made team for the mountains, ready to face the five French mountain chain present throughout the course.
Among this group, Thibaut Pinot, who has just returned from an outstanding Giro d’Italia which saw him finish 5th in the General Classification with a best climber’s jersey, will be keen to end his story with the Tour de France in front of his public.
