La Vuelta
La Vuelta ciclista a España (Tour of Spain in English), also known as La Vuelta is a stage cycling race created in 1935 by the newspaper Informaciones following the successes of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia, both created by newspapers (L’Auto and La Gazzetta dello Sport)
Considered as the third most important cycling race in the world, La Vuelta is part of the Grand Tours trio with the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. Like them, La Vuelta introduced a leader’s jersey with a special colour, red.
A young and ambitious team ready to take on La Vuelta !
It is with a with a young and offensive team based around Lenny Martinez and Romain Grégoire that the Groupama-FDJ cycling team will set off from Barcelona to join Madrid, some 3,153 km further on. This edition of La Vuelta 2023 will be marked by mythical arrivals, one in France, at the top of the Tourmalet, the other at the top of the Angliru and its terrible 24% passages.
